I think most of you have seen the term tossed around a handsome amount either on DN or some other Yu-Gi-Oh! related site. Some decks that are accused of it are mainly those considered meta. The term is mainly used due to the deck in question being rather easy to play or self explanatory, rather and doesn't require a great deal of skill or thought.

Personally, I think every deck requires at least some thought but more so, good timing. I do think that cards over time have become a lot simpler to use. You just do what the card tells you to do and not much else which means everyone makes almost the exact sameplays. Also, there never used to be a lot of archetypes and that's one aspect of the game that's been on a rise. Konami almost never just comes out with single cards meant to be used on their own but instead they put together an archetype. I guess this makes it easier on duelists and can also contribute to the term, 'autopilot'. The cards are created to work together and all you need to do is play it.

So what are your thoughts on decks that are considered, 'Autopilot'. Do you even agree with the word? Discuss!

in all reality there is no such thing as an autopiloted deck since every deck being played is obviously being iloted by someone (the player) now as far as "cheap , boring , no fun , no skill" and w.e else you lames want to throw at certain decks , just cause you run a deck like that doesnt mean you will win ? bad hands exsist and you dont always draw that first turn future fusion or that magician shark combo or the rabbit n tourguide etc not to mention the heavy amount of hate meta decks recieve during side.

my only advice would be to always be prepared.

People say decks like Inzektors are autopilot and same with DW. I have seen sooo many bad players for each. Constantly wasting resources for pointless draws or trivial effects. Sure decks like Rabbit have like 4 plays, but they still need a player who can adapt to the situation and play around stuff. Many times I have war dueled horrid DW and Inzektor players. Watching WCS and seeing how well Saito runs them was a breath of fresh air. I mean like the way he abused Sangan and was able to get all the veilers he needed to stop any push his opp tried to make. A deck can be seen as "autopilot" but the duelist is what makes the decks. Miss plays still happen with good decks. There is also a difference between people who know how to run a deck and those who just use it cause they netdecked it of Shriek. Netdecking is a great starting point don't get me wrong, it's how you learn how to play the deck. But once you start to play it adapt the deck to your own play-style and make it your own.

That's true. A deck may be really easy to play but sometimes there's just misplays galore.

I'm not a fan of meta, never will be or any auto-piloted for that matter, but I take the points of the previews posters especially Vantage's post because it will be easier to net deck at first and decide to make your own style later.

I'd also like to commend Melz about the whole bad hand, actually, there's no such thing as a bad hand for me (Partly) because it depends on how you can utilize every card in your hand as much as possible; however, there are just times when a person's luck just ran out, lol.

I really can't stand playing Meta either. It just feels dirty. That is unless I am war dueling, then I try and use good decks (at least now I do). I like using fun decks in rated or custom decks like my Chaos deck.

summon rabbit make lagia set 4 is not a deck that has been piloted by anyone but konami

summon tour guide make carrier loop 3 cards is a deck being pilotedby konami

summon REDMD summon Lightpulsar loop infenely is a deck being piloted by konami

Summon dragonfly go net + 4 if they have 2 cards on the field is a deck being piloted by konami

the problem this format was there was not a deck that sacked harder than WU

a deck that locked down harder than Rabbit

a deck that dropped bosses bigger than chaos dragons

With the apparent "new format", this problem was almost solved. Dark World is the exception. Anyway, i love it (the new format).

Well, now I know that I came back into the game during the worst format. So whatever comes next shouldn't be as bad lol.

I think these decks are considered as ''autopilots'' when they are used by a newbie or bad player.

I say this because I've seen people playing them and they didn't even know what a Chain means, or they just had no idea of certain old or OCG archetypes and how they worked. But even with such a lack of experience and skill, they win duels, and they beat good players, just because they know how to perform that hand-out combo, or how to use a rabbit or inzektor effect. When such an insignificant thing like remembering a combo is enough to win duels, it can be called an autopilot deck because the deck won, not the player.

But when a good player uses a tier 1 deck it is different, because appart from knowing how to perform a combo, you also know how to make the most of it, and how to stop it. In that case, it is not an autopilot deck anymore, because you know how to use that deck's strategy in several ways and now you don't depend on your deck, but also on your own skills.

Oh btw I think DW are OK, as they still have the sidedeck problem, not to mention the mirror matchs XD

call a deck what you want, autopilot , tbh it makes no difference to me, there are decks out there that have like 4 plays yes, i don't care much tbh, it's just a game and i will continue to see it as one, if someone wants to do the same thing over and over again to gain, what rating???, I'll just counter em, it's not like it's hard.

My opinion on "autopilot decks" is if you wana play a deck that you are restricted to such little plays, be my guest.

Yah, just like yesterday. Was dueling someone who was using Dino-Rabbit. They knew to summon the rabbit and bring out the double Sabersaurus but when I used my MST to destroy one of their face-downs, he activated his own MST and said that his canceled mine out...

LOL!

Anyway, lol, it's also helpful how autopilot decks are the ones used mainly as the newbies guide on how to become a better player, example of it is Sylveraine who whipped his friend's a** about wind-ups 'cause he doesn't know s* xD.

There was this one screen going around before of an Admin on DN.

Player A activated mirror force and they were arguing because Player B responded with mirror force bouncing it back.

I think Samurai are pretty Auto-pilot

The question is how much of a genius is joco <3

tbh tho, I think the auto pilot died a little from last format; this format it doesn't seem as bad

To be honest, I think this format, we could actually show more skills than autopilot now. Only thing I know that can be autopilot now is Dark World.

Ehh... after you know every good play in your deck, the deck itself becomes "autoplay", since you know what to do, and you do the same thing... over and over again... which makes it autopilot e.e

The only good thing about this format is that the % of top decking, with no cards in hand and win, is lower than the previous format... tho top decking and win still exist.

Nah sams is deck that just open so many options and you really should think to make the best one.Trying to limit the deck to just a few combos won't work there.

I guess, that's probably the main reason Inzektors were rated a very skillful deck (well at least compared to current meta) since they have a lot of options. Sure anybody can just go dragonfly->pop-Centi->pop->search; but there's more to the deck than that.

And yeah the sack potential is in every format, we still got heavy's and dark holes running around this format too.

Well, in this format, a lot of skills would be shown unless Konami invents some sick ass arc type again that will just get more haters for them, lol.
